Frequently Asked Questions sports massage therapist stretch or massage ther

Please reach us at scottd.cpt@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

  • Communication is key throughout your session. If this is your first massage, tell the therapist, who will answer any questions you have and walk you through the process so you feel comfortable.
  • The office is quiet and relaxing so your body and mind can be put at ease.
  • You receive the time on the table that you have purchased. In other words, your time does not start until the therapist begins the session. However, because of the time commitments to other clients, this can only be achieved if you arrive on time for your appointment.
  • A sheet and blanket are always provided for massage sessions to respect your modesty and to maintain professionalism.
  • Once disrobed, you'll lie on the massage table under the draping. Your therapist will knock before entering the room.
  • During your session, your therapist will uncover only that part of the body being worked on. Remember, this is YOUR massage. The face cradle can be adjusted and table heated. Should you experience pain or discomfort when working a particularly tight area, it is EXTREMELY important to tell us. Your therapist is a professional. She or he can adapt, using different techniques to relax tight muscles.
  • You may choose to have a full body session or a more focused session, depending on your needs at the time.

I currently do not take health insurance. HSA and FSA payments are accepted.

You should not receive a massage while you are sick or feeling like you are “coming down with something.” You should not get a massage if you have a fever, nausea, a cold or the flu, or any contagious illness. Please call to reschedule your appointment.

Unless your physician has recommended something, it's best not to be impaired in any way when receiving a massage.

If a stretch session is planned then appropriate workout clothes are recommended. If a massage session is planned then you should undress to your level of comfort. You will be properly draped during the entire session. In any scenario your modesty will be maintained.

The practitioner will leave the room while you undress, relax onto the table, and cover yourself with a clean sheet or towel.

A massage is a great way to relax your muscles. The benefits of having a massage before a workout includes increased blood flow which helps to provide better mobility and flexibility during your exercise. There are also benefits to having a massage after a workout which helps decrease muscle soreness and tightness. Both can be equally beneficial.

Just like massage, there are benefits to having a stretch session before and after your workout.  It is advised to use caution if you have assisted stretch before your work out as it can destabilize your musculature and you may get injured.

All bodies are different. While some of our clients prefer to visit to twice a month, the average client visits about once per month.

For those who use massage as preventative care or to manage daily stress, one or two massages a month is common. Weekly sessions may be desirable if you are receiving massage or stretch for injury relief or to relieve chronic conditions that are interfering with your daily life. There are many people who incorporate massage therapy at least twice a month for optimal therapeutic relief.

After a client first stretch-massage their immediate response is, “Wow that was different”. Our uniquely designed method will have you simultaneously feeling energize yet relax. You muscles will feel limber, you will feel focus, greater productivity, heightened awareness of your body and self. Your practitioner will have a bottle of water waiting for you as you take your time to reconnect and ground yourself before leaving. The water will keep you hydrated. Don't be alarm, the day after your stretch massage possible soreness may be there. It may last longer than 1-2 days. If it last longer than a couple of days, please let your practitioner know at your next appointment so that he or she can adjust the therapy accordingly.

Yes, a Sports massage is typically for an active body whether the person is an athlete or engages in an active lifestyle. Communicate your goals to your therapist so that your session is targeted for optimal performance.

My prices reflect the value of my service. Tipping IS NOT required like most places. If you feel the need to tip it will always be accepted graciously, but again I charge what I believe my service is worth.

Feel free to express yourself during your massage session. The amount of communication you should engage in during your session depends on your goals for the session. If your goal is ultimate relaxation limit your communication as talking can lead to increased muscular tension.

My coaching philosophy is based on the belief that every individual has the power to achieve their goals and create the life they desire. I work with clients to identify their strengths and values, and help them create a plan of action to achieve their desired outcomes.

I understand cancellations are sometimes unavoidable and I will work with you to be as flexible as possible. However, last minute cancellations or no shows are costly and eliminate the possibility to open that time up for others. Therefore, when you fill out your initial massage therapy intake form, you agree to a 24-hour cancellation policy. This policy will be followed for same day cancellations as well as no-show appointments. You will be charged for the price of the session which you scheduled and cancelled less than 24 hours before the appointment or in which you did not attend.
